JAMIR - Joining of Advanced Materials using Industry 4.0
Function or Purpose
The JAMIR joining suite consists of a Kuka KR210 6-axis robot with a drilling end effector for drilling holes in composite and alloy
materials. The system also has a 7th axis in the form of a Positioner, which can host up to 2 tonnes of material for drilling complex
components. The suite also contains two Brandson ultrasonic welders for joining plastics, composites and metals.
The system can be used for drilling holes for mechanical fasteners in composite and alloy materials, as well as ultrasonically weld
composite, alloy and hybrid (composite + alloy) joints
Applications/Uses in an Industrial Setting
Industrial drilling or joining of large composite or alloy structures
Joining of composite or hybrid composite-alloy joints
