JAMIR - Joining of Advanced Materials using Industry 4.0

Function or Purpose

The JAMIR joining suite consists of a Kuka KR210 6-axis robot with a drilling end effector for drilling holes in composite and alloy materials. The system also has a 7th axis in the form of a Positioner, which can host up to 2 tonnes of material for drilling complex components. The suite also contains two Brandson ultrasonic welders for joining plastics, composites and metals.

Description

The system can be used for drilling holes for mechanical fasteners in composite and alloy materials, as well as ultrasonically weld composite, alloy and hybrid (composite + alloy) joints
