Rossa Keehan – Scariff Community College, Clare
Hello, My name is Rossa Keehan and I go to Scariff Community College. I am from Scariff which is a town located in the east of Clare. I decided to sign up for the CONFIRM Ty week when I heard about it. I signed up for it as I have a big interest in science technology and maths. I read about the CONFIRM Ty week and said I would try it as it matched my interests.
I have enjoyed many things from the week so far. It’s hard to pick only one. I personally really liked the 3d printing talk a lot. I also really enjoyed the Artificial intelligence (A.I) questions we were asked to agree or disagree with. I also really enjoyed the talks given by the researchers.
I learner a lot of things during CONFIRMs Ty Week that I didn’t know before. I didn’t know that much before about STEM and smart manufacturing. I learned many different things during the week such as, what smart manufacturing is, how a 3d printer works, the advances in technology and industrial revolution, how artificial intelligence and many other things I didn’t have a clue about before the week.
For the CONFIRM ty week we had to do a poster on a topic we were given. My topic was Smart manufacturing and how it can affect the environment. I researched what smart manufacturing was and then looked into how it can affect the environment and affect sustainability.
I found that smart manufacturing isn’t terrible for the environment as it helps us in our every day lives. We use things that were smartly manufactured every day without even realising. It may have some effects on the environment believe it or not. Some smart manufacturing can cause pollution noise pollution and other minor effects. I believe smart manufacturing is a good thing.
