I am interested in the developing software-intensive (digital) security systems for cyber-physical and socio-technical systems. I am interested in developing and applying modelling and analysis techniques to support the construction, delivery and operation of secure systems, systems that are privacy aware, and systems that are forensics ready. My research group and I have developed so called asset-centric and topology-aware techniques for protecting a variety of ‘smart’ spaces, including social spaces such as homes, work spaces such as buildings, and urban spaces such as cities. In the context of the Confirm Centre, I am interested in extending and applying some of these techniques to managing the security of factories and the supply chain. I am also interested in way in which cyber-physical technologies can collaborate to achieve security goals, and we are developing ‘collaborative security’ techniques for this purpose. Finally, my group and I are investigating techniques for evaluating and ensuring compliance to (security and privacy) policies, regulations and standards in particular projects, systems, organisations and broader jurisdictions. Our work sabs a number of application domains such as aviation (including drones), sustainability (including food security), healthcare (including community care), and policing.
