Victor Cionca

Senior Researcher

Victor graduated computer science from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca in Romania. In 2011 he was awarded a PhD in Wireless Sensor Network security by the University of Limerick. Following that, Victor worked as an Applications Engineer and Postdoc in Tyndall from 2011 - 2014, focusing on power management in WSN and leading the Energy Aware Systems team of the WSN group.

Victor Cionca
Senior Researcher
Networking Systems & IoT

In Nimbus, CIT, Victor has worked primarily on controlling network functionality and behaviour, in terms of achieving end-to-end constraints (reliability and latency), supporting concurrent, isolated, flows, maximising the network capacity, and preventing anomalous or malicious behaviour. He has applied his work in short (802.15.4) and long-range (LoRa) wireless as well as in core networks (SDN).
Dr. Cioncas work is very hands-on, he likes to validate his work on actual hardware and encourages his students to do the same and develop testbeds for experimentation.
Dr. Cionca is a Funded Investigator with CONFIRM.
