Future of Work

Omar Almansori – Coláiste Mhichíl, Limerick

Hi, my name is Omar Almansori and I’m from Dublin but I currently live in Limerick city.

I go to Coláiste Mhichíl – CBS Sexton Secondary School.

I decided to sign up for the TY Week programme because I was interested in the technology programme. I was really intrigued by the programme and what it offers.

I mostly enjoyed doing the posters. I got to do my own research and add my points from my own knowledge too. I got to give an overall opinion/review about it and I enjoyed that very much. I have learned about Stem Engineering, Product Design and technology, and many other things such as wireless communication, computer simulation, computer engineering etc. I was planning on setting up a business when I’m older, the points the other experts were giving really opened up my view about everything needed. Technology and Product design were two points I hadn’t ever considered much about.

The topic I chose to write about for my poster was based on how technology will change how we work in the future. I wrote about the pro’s and con’s technology offers. I used some basic knowledge and also did some research. Not all the points I researched were very exciting. I could’ve guessed some of them were going to happen for eg. Businesses getting hacked or scammed. One of my favourite facts was the increase of homelessness in the upcoming years. I found out that unemployment rates jumped by 5.2% of January 2021. In the upcoming future, robots will be taking up the place of many people from the building industry to the educational services sector. I found this fact very interesting and yet shocking.

Overall, I pretty much enjoyed this programme and I would advise others to do it. If I were to be given another opportunity to participate in this beneficial programme, I wouldn’t think twice about it.
