Saeid is a CONFIRM PhD student based at University College Cork.
“I am interested to learn new things and one of the main parts of research is testing the new ideas. Your research can help to solve real-world problem in industry or business.”
Tell us a bit about your research...
I am doing research in improving efficiency on Logistics Hubs. Logistics Hubs are one of the most important parts of current logistics companies and Physical Internet. The Physical Internet (PI) is a proposal for an open global logistics system founded on physical, digital and operational interconnectivity. Autonomous agents in these hubs will decide where packages are forwarded to and how they will get there to achieve the best overall performance of the system.
I am working on the machine learning model for the Autonomous Agent to increase the efficiency of the system.
What did you study as an Undergraduate?
I did a Bachelor of Computer Science in Kharazmi University, Iran. I was interested in doing research in Artificial Intelligence and I did my Master’s degree in Computer Engineering – Artificial Intelligence.
What made you decide to go into research?
I was always interested in the real-world challenges in artificial intelligence. The problems in this area are changing the world in different ways. Research in this area can be difficult and you need to be more patient but I am enjoying testing of my new ideas.
What do you enjoy most about being a PhD Student?
I am interested to learn new things and one of the main parts of research is testing the new ideas. Your research can help to solve real-world problem in industry or business.
Do you have any advice for someone who is thinking about a career or research in STEM?
If the students have an interest in things like current trends in Artificial Intelligence, then research in STEM will be really enjoyable and of benefit to them.
