Action Research to Innovate Science Teaching (ARTIST)

We recently attended the final conference of the ARTIST Project – an EU project which aimed to innovate science education through classroom‐based and teacher‐driven Action Research.

The conference brought together delegations from the partner countries (Israel, Ireland, the Philippines, Georgia, Germany, Turkey & Austria) to share findings and discuss the plans for the future.

The concept of empowering teachers to conduct research in their own classrooms with the view to improve and innovate their own teaching practices and those of others showed very promising results and it was clear that ARTIST had as much of a positive effect on the consortium members as it did for the participating teachers.

We hope that we can integrate some of the ideas and frameworks explored as part of this project into our teacher CPD programmes here at Confirm which we have planned for 2020.
